One viewing on OpenRent led to my first deal

Watch the video below to find out how.

Kemi is a product manager in Swindon who always wanted to get into property but didn't have the money for buy to lets. She spent two years going to free sessions, and at one event felt pressured into signing up for something that didn't feel right. Then she found Simon, and liked how simply he broke the process down. As a structured person, she followed the programme step by step, taking notes as she went. She found a landlord on OpenRent, got a viewing, and spent it getting to know him rather than pitching. When he mentioned his letting agent charged him and did nothing, she showed him her management company website. He was impressed, offered her another of his properties, and that became her first serviced accommodation deal. Two weeks later he called back to ask if she could manage 150 flats. Her goal is 10 properties and a family business for her three boys. Kemi's advice: "Stay consistent and believe that you can do it, because you can."

Talisa is originally from New Zealand and has lived in the UK for 20 years. She first heard about rent to rent a couple of years ago and watched Simon's content for a long time before joining. Seeing so many people succeeding at the conference showed her it worked, but she wasn't sure she could do it herself. Simon challenged her to walk into letting agents in person, and she found they were open to talking and full of opportunities. That gave her real confidence. Agents kept calling her with properties, and she took her first deal from a video alone. When her first guests moved in she sat in the finished property and cried, because it looked so beautiful. She landed a six month booking straight away and it has cashflowed from day one. Two deals in, with more in the pipeline, her goal is a business she can run remotely while she travels. Her advice: "Just do it. Give it a crack."

Rachel is from Tunbridge Wells in Kent, and everything in her career led here. She spent her teens and twenties in hospitality running large rural estates and hotels, served in the police, then moved into property management as a private PA, managing fourteen tenancies for an investor who was turning his properties into Airbnbs. She has always wanted to be her own boss, run her own schedule and build a business she could eventually run from anywhere in the world. Her first deal of her own is a three bed in the upper rooms of a former Edwardian opera house, which she markets as The Stage Door. It came fully furnished with two bathrooms and smart TVs in every bedroom, and she even inherited the booking platforms. All she needed was some sheets and a coffee machine. Now she can keep her investor as a client while running things her own way.
